STARRING

From Dawn till Night is a durational multimedia investigation created for the undergroundzero Festival at PS122, drawing inspiration from Rainer Werner Fassbinder’s devastating film In a Year with 13 Moons. Like Fassbinder’s work, the piece probed the fragility of identity, the violence of longing, and the quiet, cumulative weight of emotional exhaustion.
The staging embraced the raw, experimental architecture of PS122. Cameras moved through the space—at times methodical, at times impulsive—capturing fleeting gestures, fractured intimacies, and the subtle shifts in atmosphere that accumulate over time. Their live feeds were projected onto surrounding surfaces, multiplying and distorting the performers’ presence, creating an unstable visual landscape that echoed the film’s oscillation between hyper-clarity and deep interiority.
The performance unfolded as a durational environment shaped by the rhythms of the day, by proximity, by disappearance. It traced states of exhaustion, renewal, collapse, and transformation—treating performance as an excavation of what lies beneath ordinary gestures and repeated actions. Echoing Fassbinder’s emotional urgency, the piece examined how a body holds grief, desire, and reinvention.
From Dawn till Night was less a narrative than a living organism: a porous, ever-shifting space where theatre, cinema, and ritual blurred, and where spectators were invited to witness the raw pulse of time passing, moment by moment.
